Assalamualaikum..
"Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak a good word or remain silent. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should show hospitality to his neighbor. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should show hospitality to his guest." [Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Al Muslim]
"the hardest thing for an animal to do is not to move" --> words from sage frog when he tried to teach naruto the sage ninja technique. heh..
well, now, i do believe there is 1 more thing that an animal really hard to avoid --> TALKING..
yeah.. can u try not to talk at all.. like, not a word in a day? ok, not a day, for about an hour? of course it is possible when u are in deep sleep.. just imagine, u r with ur frens, meeting with each other or just meet ur collegue at work place, will u ever shut ur mouth? even a simple HI! would do..
well, this is not a promotion to remain silent all the time.. Allah give us a perfect vocal cord, beautiful tongue and lips for us to speak.. so, when shud we open our mouth?
Speaking a good word or remaining silent: This is an encouragement to speak what is good and beneficial; at the same time it is a warning, cautioning us to be careful in what we say, lest we say something that is harmful or false. It is part of a Muslim's faith to speak the truth and to say things that bring about benefit to others.
"No good is there in much of their private conversation, except for those who enjoin charity or that which is right, or bring reconciliation between people. And whoever does that seeking Allah's pleasure, then we shall grant him a great reward." [Surah An-Nisa: 114]
Mu`adh ibn Jabal said, "Are we even going to be held accountable for what we say?!"
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, "May your mother be bereaved of you! Is there anything which drags people into the Fire on their faces other than the harvest of their tongues?!" [Tirmidhi (hasan sahih)]
We should avoid speaking ill of others. We should rather remain silent unless we are seeking justice for some wrong that has been perpetrated against us. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): "Allah does not like that evil should be mentioned in public except by one who has been done injustice. And Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing." [Sura an-Nisa: 148]
Our tongues are like double-edges swords. They can work for us and against us, both in this world and the Hereafter. We will be held accountable for what we say. Allah tells us (interpretation of the meaning): "He does not utter a statement except that there is an observer by him ready to record it." [Sura al-Qaf: 18]
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed a servant will speak a word pleasing to Allah that he thinks to be insignificant, but because of it Allah raises him by many degrees. And indeed a servant will speak a word displeasing to Allah that he thinks to be insignificant, but because of it, He will consign him to the Hellfire." [Sahih al-Bukhari]
On the authority of Sahl ibn Sa`d :
"Whoever guarantees for me what is between his two jaws and what is between his two legs, I guarantee Heaven for him." [Bukhari, Muslim]

"O assembly of those who have believed with their tongues, but into
whose hearts faith has not yet reached! Do not backbite the Muslims, nor
seek out their secrets! For, whoever seeks out the faults of his
brother, Allah will seek out his secrets. And, whoever has his secrets
sought out by Allah, Allah will disgrace him, even [if he hides] in the
depths of his house. [Abu Dawud in al-Adab, 4/271, #4880]
"Beware
of backbiting, for backbiting is more serious than adultery. A man may
commit adultery, and drink [wine], and then repent, and Allah will
forgive him. But, the backbiter will not be forgiven by Allah until his
[backbited] companion forgives him." [Suyuti, Al-Jami` as-Saghir, 1/174,
#2919, from Ibn Abid-Dunya, and Abush-Shaykh, Al-Tawbikh.]
